Spice Garden is a no-frills Indian restaurant tucked away in Ikebukuro, offering honest, well-spiced curries and pillowy naan bread fresh from the tandoor. The kitchen is staffed by Indian chefs who bring genuine subcontinental flair to every dish, from creamy butter chicken to fiery vindaloos. It is the sort of place that rewards regulars who know to ask for extra spice. The menu spans the usual Anglo-Indian favourites alongside more regional specialities, with set meals and all-you-can-eat naan deals that keep things remarkably affordable. Lunch sets come in under a thousand yen, making it a popular spot with office workers and students alike. The courses, which include tandoori chicken and chilli paneer, are generous enough for sharing.
Located in the Ikebukuro Shopping Park area, the restaurant is within easy walking distance of Ikebukuro Station. It can get busy at peak times, but turnover is quick and the staff are accustomed to solo diners. A solid choice when you want comfort food without the fuss.

It's not a good thing that the 1, 080 yen menu doesn't offer refills of naan or rice.

I bought chicken tikka, but it was practically empty inside. (I bought two packs, but it was only about the amount you'd get in one pack.) The price was 1000 yen per pack, so it's a rip-off. The poor visibility of the display window is also a drawback.

I got takeout. Is the keema curry here watery? It has no thickness at all, so I don't understand why it's watery.

It seems they're currently only offering takeout. The chicken biryani was delicious. The butter chicken curry was incredibly sweet.

Lunch. Choose from two types of curry: chicken, keema, mash & spinach, or butter chicken. 972 yen. It's great to be able to casually enjoy authentic Indian curry in Ikebukuro Shopping Park.
